Biographical info
Brett Michael Innes was born in 1983 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He spent three years working as a documentary photographer and filmmaker with various NGO’s and church groups all over the world, from Sierra Leone to Mongolia.
In 2012 he turned his focus to feature films and literature. His first novel, The Story of Racheltjie de Beer, became a local bestseller, and his second novel, Rachel Weeping, was adapted into the hit film Sink, which he directed himself. Sink has been heralded by local critics as a breakout film that sets a new standard for South African film and was winner of the Jury Life Award at the Mexico International Film Festival and Official Selection at the Atlanta Film Festival.
